The Halloween Bash in Glen Rock, PA is quintessential powerlifting. Definitely old school powerlifting at its best. We're in a steel barn that Jeff McVicar dedicates to his passion for powerlifting which he shares with this powerlifting companions. The equipment is the best any powerlifter could ask for. Music blares filling the room with heavy metal motivating even the most faint of heart. The crowd cheers for all of the lifters, competitors cheer for one another. The walls are given life with a collection of flags representing the 4 branches of the military, including the US Flag and the Rebel Flag. Posters of some of powerlifting's greatest lifters adorn the walls . . . along with a set of brass knuckles and a hand-made Marine Corps. Trench Knife. Yikes to the knife! These are the events that memories are made from.
Jeff McVicar, Maryland State Chair running the 2014 IPA Halloween Bash at his gym in Glen Rock, PA. It was a great meet held by Jeff and Jules Furniss.
Big Andy Bosnyak broke the Pro Equipped 308 lb. Men's Submaster
bench record by a wide margin ending his day with an 815 lb. bench.
West Virginia State Chair, Josh Stottlemire, and girlfriend, Heather Nicole Willis made the trip from WVA to challenge the weight at the Halloween Bash. This was Heather's first meet, and she handled it like a seasoned veteran with a 105 lb. bench and a 270 lb. dead lift in the 132 lb. Am Raw Women's Junior Division. Josh pulled a monster 700 lb. DL to break his 680 lb. IPA World Record in the Pro Raw 220 lb. Men's Submaster Division.
Jeff McVicar's handmade "knife" looks more like Freddie Krueger's tool of choice.
It's the Halloween Bash, right? Perfectly appropriate!
IPA WR Holders Wendy Tracey, Chelsea White, and Kirk Bankert joined us in Glen Rock for the Halloween Bash! Chelsea ended her day pulling a 380 lb. IPA WR in the Am Raw Women's Open 148 lb. class. Congratulations!!

This is the first in several years to officially induct
legendary lifting icons into the York Barbell Weightlifting Hall of Fame. This
year, two of the main characters in shaping powerlifting as we know it today
were inducted on Friday, August 15 in the York Barbell Hall of Fame Auditorium.
Ed Coan and Steve Goggins were honored this year.
The full-house crowd sat in awe of who most likely are their
powerlifting heros and role models. Both Ed and Steve gave emotional acceptance
speeches worthy of bringing a tear to the eye. For Ed and Steve, powerlifting
is part of what shaped who they are today. Their contributions to the sport are
countless.
